Free sewing pattern "Scrunchie hair tie"

Creative use of fabric remnants

In our free "Scrunchie" tutorial, we show you how to sew practical scrunchies for all long-haired friends in just a few steps. Leftover fabric can be put to good use. All you need is a small piece of fabric, some elastic and suitable sewing thread. Once you have everything ready to go, even beginners can get started. You will find measurements for a standard size in our free instructions. You can, of course, increase or decrease the measurements as you wish and adjust the hair ties to suit your hair style.

What fabrics is the project suitable for?

In principle, most fabrics can be used for this project. Thin fabrics such as Poplin, Rustic Cotton, Linen Pure, Linen Washed or Linen/Cotton are very suitable for beginners. Knitted fabrics such as jersey, French terry, waffle jersey or terry jersey are also ideal, but are a little more difficult to work with. However, they are very suitable for slightly more experienced sewing fingers.

Material requirements:

  • fabric strip approx. 60cm x 10cm

  • narrow elastic band approx. 20cm

  • matching sewing thread

Product recommendations:
