Sweat brushed

Sweat fabrics are usually slightly heavier than French terry fabrics and are roughened on the reverse.

This brushed surface feels soft and fluffy and provides extra warmth and insulation.

Sweat fabrics with a brushed backing are often used for a variety of casual wear, including sweaters, hoodies, sweatpants, sweat jackets and other cozy garments

Sweat fabrics are breathable and warm at the same time

Sweat fabric is warming, breathable, absorbent and robust, making it particularly comfortable to wear. It is roughened on the back and therefore feels warmer and cozier. Winter sweat is ideal for all sewing projects involving winter clothing for children.

In winter sweat = brushed sweat, the lining thread is roughened during the production process, creating the typical fluffy surface that not only feels soft, but also retains body heat well. In addition, the higher the fabric weight, the thicker and warmer the fabric. And ... The length of the loops is decisive for the coziness factor: the longer they are, the softer the pile.

Sweat fabric is also easy to care for. It is generally suitable for the washing machine, doesn't crease much and can be ironed if necessary. With a spandex content of less than 10%, it can also be tumble dried.

The great thing about sweat fabric is that the cut edges do not curl up as much as jersey, for example. This makes this fabric perfect for beginners.

It is suitable for making comfortable clothing such as hoodies, sweatshirts, sports pants, etc. Sweat fabric is particularly popular for children's fabrics due to its properties. It is soft, robust and warm at the same time, making it ideal for everyday and comfortable clothing for babies and children.

Processing and care instructions

When cutting sweat fabric, you should always pay attention to the direction of the stitches, as the fabric may not stretch the same in all directions. Sweat fabric can be open-edged as it does not fray at the cut edges. You should sew with suitable jersey needles and thread and apply as little tension as possible to the fabric. A narrow zig-zag stitch/overlock seam provides the necessary elasticity. Reinforce shoulder seams with a tape to prevent them from wearing out.

1. always pre-wash and make sure that it does not warp when drying.

2. cut with rotary cutter or tailor's shears

3. It is best to mark the snips with tailor's chalk or a magic marker

4. Do not pull the jersey, as the edges may curl up

5. Sweat and jersey do not fray, so neatened edges are not absolutely necessary, but they do reduce curling of the fabric edges.

6. use a round-headed needle (jersey needle) for sewing

7 Sewing is best done with an overlock machine. When using a normal sewing machine, always use an elastic stitch, either a triple straight stitch or a small zigzag stitch and adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary.

8. Sewing hems is best done with a coverlock or twin needle machine.
