Pineapple leaf fiber, also known as "PALF", is fiber obtained from the long leaves of the pineapple plant. It is a waste product from food production and was often simply incinerated in the past. By processing it into new materials, 264 tons of CO2 were prevented from being released into the atmosphere in 2020 alone - the equivalent of charging more than 33 million smartphones! In addition to saving CO2, processing it into textiles also serves as another source of income for pineapple farmers and creates more jobs in rural areas.
