Description
Double-sided two-ply cotton fabric
Double gauze, also known as muslin, is a light, airy double-ply fabric made of cotton.
Two layers of fabric are joined together at points to create a crinkled, fluffy look. This is reinforced after washing.
Double gauze is wonderfully airy and soft. Very suitable for loose, airy summer fashion such as blouses, skirts, pants, dresses or scarves. The extra width makes this double gauze particularly suitable for large summer blankets, bedspreads and curtains.
Sewing tip:
Wash before sewing, allow for shrinkage of approx. 10%.
Whether or not double gauze should be ironed during processing is a matter of debate in the sewing world. Both are possible.
If ironing is used, it should be borne in mind that the crepe look is pressed apart or flattened when ironed - after washing, however, the fabric contracts again! This can cause a significant difference, especially in the fabric width, and should therefore be taken into account when cutting.
